The company originally claimed that CortiSlim tablets aided weight loss by reducing levels of cortisol, a stress hormone. However, in October 2004, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleged that marketers of CortiSlim and CortiStress were making false or unsubstantiated claims in their advertising. Since then, the company has changed their marketing claims. The FTC also alleges that Window Rock claimed that the effectiveness of CortiSlim and its ingredients has been demonstrated by over 15 years of scientific research. According to the FTC's complaint, these claims are false or unsubstantiated.
